PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Callum Walsh (ranked 5911 p4p, 25092 weight class) and Jake Brown (ranked 250 p4p, 295 weight class). Walsh comes into the arena with Unfaithful blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Callum Walsh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Jake Brown!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown misses with an attempted mid kick.

Brown shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Walsh's guard.
Brown stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Walsh swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Brown slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
It looks like Brown might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Walsh is trying to control the position but Brown postures up.

Brown is looking to advance position but Walsh has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Walsh really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Walsh stays in close to Brown's body and controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brown looking to hit a scissor sweep but Walsh is one step ahead there.
Walsh has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Brown has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Walsh is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Walsh shoots in but no luck this time.
Walsh looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Brown scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
We've been informed that Brown has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Walsh is looking to control Brown's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Walsh avoid being mounted?

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Walsh throws a solid leg kick but Brown takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Walsh.
Brown changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Brown throws the kick towards the body but Walsh avoids it.
As Brown tries to get set, Walsh tries to push him back and clinch up but Brown manages to avoid the attempt.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
The fighters circling - Brown throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Walsh darts in and clinches Brown up against the cage.
Walsh avoids the elbow strike from Brown, against the cage.

Brown gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Brown dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Brown misses with a body shot.
Walsh misses with a two punch combination.
Walsh takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Walsh takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Brown misses with a series of wild punches.
Brown throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Nice uppercut lands for Brown. That snapped Walsh's head back.
Callum Walsh is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Brown dives in for a single leg takedown but Walsh sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Walsh tries to counter with a takedown but Brown is quick to defend against it.
Brown has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Brown jabs Walsh to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Walsh misses with a takedown attempt - Brown sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Brown uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Walsh.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Brown looks to land a combination but Walsh avoids it well.
Walsh is looking for a counter combo.
Walsh closes the distance and clinches up with Brown, looking for a takedown. Walsh pushes Brown against the cage but Brown circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Walsh ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Walsh feinted with a counter takedown.
Some wild striking there from Brown.

Brown fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Walsh to the ground. Brown is now in Walsh's guard.
Walsh looking for a sweep. Not yet Walsh, not yet.
Brown slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Brown's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Walsh is trying to control the position from the bottom.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Walsh being controlled here, momentarily.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Brown closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Brown misses with a body kick.
Walsh appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Walsh keeps the fight on the outside.
Brown looks to land a combination but Walsh avoids it well.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Walsh checks a leg kick.

Walsh gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Jake Brown has got the better of the ground game so far.
Brown stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Walsh swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Brown passes easily into side control. Nice work.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Walsh is not content to let Brown control the position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Brown showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Horrible takedown attempt by Walsh or perhaps it was just good defense by Brown, which made it look bad.

Brown fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Walsh sprawls well initially but Brown persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Walsh kicks Brown off and gets back to his feet.
Brown tries a low kick but Walsh avoids it.

Walsh fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Brown, pushing him back against the cage.
Walsh prevents the takedown attempt.

Brown's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Brown tries for a takedown but Walsh manages to get underhooks.
Callum Walsh has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jake Brown.

Brown's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Walsh looks for a takedown but Brown sprawls well.
A combination from Brown does no damage.
Walsh tries for a takedown but Brown sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Brown closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Walsh did well to prevent Brown getting side control.

Brown is working for a kimura but Walsh is defending it quite comfortably.

Brown is continuing to stall.
Brown looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Walsh with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Brown in particular looking to stall.

Brown is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Walsh defends it well.
Well, if Brown is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Walsh is not content to let Brown control the position.
Brown is taking a breather. Walsh says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Brown lands with a shot to the body.
Brown just misses with a punch to the body.
Walsh shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Brown as he jumps to the side.

Walsh gets caught flat footed, as Brown shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Walsh is trying to keep Brown in close.
Callum Walsh has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jake Brown is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Brown controls from within his opponent's guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jake Brown comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Brown winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
