PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Christopher Nibbs (ranked 4054 p4p, 6319 weight class) and Za Beast (ranked 522 p4p, 711 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Christopher Nibbs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Za Beast!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nibbs uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Christopher Nibbs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Beast looks for a takedown but Nibbs sprawls well.

Beast drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Nibbs dives on top into guard.

Nibbs is controlling Beast's trapped leg to prevent Beast from advancing to side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Beast winds up and cracks Nibbs with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Nibbs has hold of Beast's hands but Beast slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

That was a close round but I would say that Christopher Nibbs will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Beast closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

And Beast tries to counter it with a takedown but Nibbs pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Beast shoots in looking for a takedown. Nibbs tries to sprawl out of it but Beast keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nibbs manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Beast working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Nibbs wants to sweep here but Beast controlling him for the moment.

I would just about give that final round to Za Beast.
I think Beast has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
