Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Karsten Koererlaerer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Neer! The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Patrick Alders and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Koererlaerer shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Koererlaerer showed some decent athleticism there. Neer trying to hold on to Koererlaerer's head to control him but Koererlaerer postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Koererlaerer drops an elbow to the side of Neer's head. Koererlaerer is just content to waste time from the top position. Neer takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Koererlaerer connects with a couple of short punches. Koererlaerer definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Koererlaerer with a nice head shot there. Koererlaerer connects with a couple of short punches. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Koererlaerer chips away with some ground and pound. Neer wants to stand but Koererlaerer is controlling the position. Koererlaerer with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
That's one minute gone in the round. Koererlaerer pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Neer is keeping the position for now. Koererlaerer is working Neer over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Koererlaerer lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Neer can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Koererlaerer controls the pace. Koererlaerer stands up over Neer, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Neer is rocked! Koererlaerer postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Neer covers up, he's hurt! Koererlaerer keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Koererlaerer and the ref steps in to end the fight! Koererlaerer can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Karsten Koererlaerer!
