PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zygmunt Krol (ranked 1747 p4p, 2106 weight class) and Ultima Kekkonen (ranked 199 p4p, 245 weight class). Krol kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Hammer Smashed Face Live. Ultima Kekkonen told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ultima Kekkonen!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Damien Edna and Darius Henderson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Krol looks to land a body kick but Kekkonen moved away.
Kekkonen throws a one two combo.

It looks like Zygmunt Krol has been cut.
Kekkonen bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Krol's head backwards.
Krol slips a straight right by Kekkonen.
Krol throws out a leg kick but Kekkonen moves out of range and Krol only half commits.
A jab from Kekkonen does it's job there.
Kekkonen misses with a head kick.
Krol swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Krol throws a low kick, looking for Kekkonen's leg but Kekkonen calmly moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kekkonen with a nice calf kick.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Kekkonen crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Krol - the referee stops the clock and Kekkonen gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Krol. Kekkonen manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Krol throws a jab but it's blocked by Kekkonen.
Kekkonen throws a big counter head kick but Krol avoids it with no problem.

Krol thuds his shin into the meat of Kekkonen's side.

Krol will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

and Kekkonen counters with a nice low kick that buckles Krol's knee momentarily.
Krol ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kekkonen moves away.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

It looked like Krol was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Kekkonen.

That has opened up Ultima Kekkonen's cut even more.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kekkonen scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

A close round but Ultima Kekkonen will probably get the nod.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Nice straight punches there by Krol. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Krol.
Kekkonen takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Krol looks to land a body kick but Kekkonen moved away.
Kekkonen is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.

Krol feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Kekkonen sprawling to the canvas! Kekkonen rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Krol finish him?!

Kekkonen is rocked!

The cut above Ultima Kekkonen's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Ultima Kekkonen seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Krol fakes the leg kick and cracks Kekkonen in the body.
Kekkonen throws a hook to the side of Krol's head but Krol sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Krol jabs Kekkonen right on the nose. Kekkonen blinks but takes it well.

Ultima Kekkonen's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

Krol swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Krol scores with a shot to the body.
A decent looking cross lands there for Kekkonen.
A swing and a miss from Kekkonen.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
