Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bruce White Jr (ranked 660 p4p, 849 weight class) and Adam Johnson (ranked 77 p4p, 97 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. White Jr was covering up waiting for the punch and Johnson finishes the takedown easily into guard. Johnson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Johnson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Johnson postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! White Jr is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Johnson, into his guard.
Johnson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Johnson has his foot on White Jr's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. White Jr works his way back into a safe position though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. White Jr wants to get up but he can't break Johnson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. White Jr doesn't defend quickly enough and Johnson has managed to lock this one up! Can White Jr escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Johnson on a fantastic submission victory.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Adam Johnson! Our winner, Adam Johnson, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
