Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alessio Da Santiago!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chris George!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Anni Minnemäki and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

George clinches up against the cage.
Da Santiago gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Da Santiago lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Da Santiago throws a knee to the head but misses.
Da Santiago lands an elbow inside that George shrugs off.
Da Santiago lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
George blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Da Santiago pushes off an throws an elbow but George leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

I was talking to Da Santiago's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

George has Da Santiago pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Da Santiago manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

George gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Da Santiago holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

With the fighters up against the cage, Da Santiago throws an elbow but misses.
Da Santiago lands a damaging elbow.
George looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

George is trying to trip Da Santiago. He has hold of a leg but Da Santiago is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. George persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Da Santiago throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! George escapes and throws Da Santiago's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Da Santiago bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

George bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Da Santiago's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

George got a little sloppy there for a moment and Da Santiago has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, George has managed to get both his arms back between Da Santiago's legs - danger averted.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Da Santiago is trying to maintain the position but George is very close to passing his half guard.

George manages to capitalize on a mistake by Da Santiago to take his back!
Chris George has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Da Santiago is trying to remain composed but George is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.

Chris George comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
