Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shogi Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jean Pierre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shogi Carter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jean Pierre! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Daniel Franklin and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pierre shoots in but no luck this time. Carter clinches up with Pierre and pushes him back against the cage. Pierre tries to score a body lock takedown but Carter shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Carter jumps guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pierre is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pierre trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Carter pulls Pierre in close to prevent any damage. Pierre gets to his feet. Carter looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Carter shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Pierre counters with an inside leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pierre with a poor takedown so Carter counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Shogi Carter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jean Pierre. Pierre has control of Carter's left arm, preventing Carter from doing any damage. Carter trying to control the position from guard on top but Pierre is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Carter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pierre swivels though and keeps the full guard. Pierre looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pierre throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Carter won't allow Pierre to sweep him here. Pierre should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Carter wants to control from the top but Pierre keeps moving. Pierre wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Carter is now in half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carter trying to mount his opponent but Pierre defends it. Carter is breathing heavily. Carter seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Pierre does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Pierre throws a body kick the misses and Carter counters with a lovely straight right hand! Pierre chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Carter can pounce on him.

and Carter counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Pierre wants to control but Carter is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pierre tries to kick Carter off but Carter keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Pierre is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Carter's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Carter's back! Pierre has his opponent's back but Carter is looking to stand. He manages to get to his feet and shakes off Pierre. Pierre shoots and misses and Carter counters with a nice kick to the body. Pierre tries to clinch so Carter counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Carter throws a strike but Pierre rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Shogi Carter dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Pierre shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Carter counters with a shoot takedown. Pierre fights it but they end up in guard. Pierre is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Carter has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Pierre keeping full guard, as Carter tries to pass. Pierre is controlling Carter's posture. Pierre controls Carter momentarily but Carter frees himself. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carter wants to get up but he can't break Pierre's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Pierre keeping moving, preventing Carter from controlling successfully. Pierre manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Carter manages to get himself to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Pierre lands a couple of digs. Pierre wants to control from the top but Carter keeps moving. Pierre sitting in guard, not really doing much. Carter keeping moving, preventing Pierre from controlling successfully.

Despite being in the dominant position, Jean Pierre just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Carter takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Pierre darts in trying to clinch and Carter counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Pierre! Shogi Carter overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Pierre is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pierre is in all sorts of trouble here.

Shogi Carter dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
Nice takedown defense from Carter. No joy for Pierre on that attempt. Carter shoots in for a double leg but Pierre sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Pierre wants to clinch up but Carter keeps it at a distance. Pierre has his takedown stuffed and Carter counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Pierre misses with a kick to the body and Carter counters with a good low kick that Pierre was not able to check. Carter shoots in for a double leg but Pierre sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Pierre misses with a takedown attempt - Carter sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Shogi Carter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jean Pierre. Pierre will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Carter feints and as Pierre raises his hands in defense, Carter changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Pierre looking to hit a scissor sweep but Carter is one step ahead there. Carter is sitting in close to Pierre's body. Pierre has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Carter is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Carter is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Pierre.
