PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ronnie White (ranked 1832 p4p, 1161 weight class) and Ernesto Llosa (ranked 256 p4p, 168 weight class). White kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Battlesick. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ronnie White!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ernesto Llosa!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Lou da Vinci and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Llosa has White up against the cage in a clinch.
Llosa prevents a body shot from White.
White just leaning against Llosa, taking a breather.
White tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Llosa's elbow.
White blocking some punches.
I was talking to White's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
White stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

White lands a nice shot to the head.

BOOM! White connects with a massive shot to the dome!

White lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Llosa hang on?
White takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
White can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Llosa is looking to escape.

Llosa has his foot on White's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. White works his way back into a safe position though.

Llosa escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. White gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

White keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Llosa's head.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

White throws a head kick that half lands.
White rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Llosa counters with a nice uppercut.
Llosa avoids the body shot from White.
A looping hook to the body misses from White. Llosa does a little dance to reset his feet.
A little jabbing left from Llosa on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
White throws a head kick but Llosa moves out of range.
Llosa looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
White scores with a leg kick.
White avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Llosa throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck White on the side of the head.
Llosa uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by White.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

White got a little sloppy there for a moment and Llosa has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, White has managed to get both his arms back between Llosa's legs - danger averted.
White is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Llosa not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

White postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Llosa is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of White, into his guard.

White controls Llosa momentarily but Llosa frees himself.

White is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Llosa defends well.

Llosa tries to free his leg and advance position but White is retaining full guard.

Llosa has gone for a leg lock! White slips out almost immediately though and dives into Llosa's guard.

White keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Llosa's head.

Llosa working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. White doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. White manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Llosa is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
White passes into half guard.
Still in half guard, White seems content to control.
Llosa moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
White is in close to Llosa's body, working some short punches and elbows.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
White controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Llosa looking for a sweep. Not yet Llosa, not yet.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ronnie White will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Llosa tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
White is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Llosa is defending well for now.

White is pushing Llosa up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Llosa drops to a knee looking for a takedown but White gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Ronnie White has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ernesto Llosa.

Well White has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
