Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joseph Telushikin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 21 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Manu Ahonen! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ahonen shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Telushikin misses with the combination.
Telushikin doesn't succeed with the takedown and Ahonen cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Joseph Telushikin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ahonen fails with the takedown. Nice shot by Ahonen. Ahonen shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Telushikin is trying to defend but Ahonen finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Ahonen missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Telushikin is pressing down on Ahonen's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Telushikin is pulling down on Ahonen's head. It's preventing any offense from Ahonen, at least for the moment. Telushikin is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at The Gentleman's Club that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Telushikin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Ahonen throws an elbow that misses. Telushikin uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ahonen's guard. Nice move by Telushikin! Ahonen manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Telushikin manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Telushikin wants to sweep here but Ahonen controlling him for the moment.

Telushikin has his hands clasped together around Ahonen's back. He's all about the action. Telushikin actively working from the bottom here. Ahonen is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Ahonen is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Ahonen working Telushikin over with strikes. Telushikin is controlling Ahonen's position as best he can from this difficult position. Ahonen prevents Telushikin from improving his position. Telushikin moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Ahonen's corner. There ya go! There ya go! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Ahonen stands and throws Telushikin's legs to the side, diving into side control. Telushikin can't do much from the bottom here. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Manu Ahonen dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action! Ahonen looks to land a body kick but Telushikin moved away. Telushikin bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Ahonen's head. Telushikin throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Ahonen appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Telushikin shoots for a double leg takedown but Ahonen sprawls well. He's pushed Telushikin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Ahonen fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Ahonen lands a nice looking body shot.
Telushikin takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Ahonen walks into a jab. Telushikin throws a left and a right that both miss
and Ahonen makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Telushikin throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Ahonen ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Ahonen doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Telushikin takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Good leg kick by Ahonen. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ahonen misses with an uppercut. The fighters circling - Telushikin throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Ahonen only half commits to the counter leg kick. Ahonen staying out of range there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Telushikin loads up on a big right hand but Ahonen slips the punch. Joseph Telushikin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Telushikin throws a right hand that misses
and Ahonen counters with a left to the body. Ahonen on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Telushikin throws a right and a left that both miss. Telushikin with a hook. Telushikin throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ahonen. Ahonen buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Telushikin lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ahonen circles away quickly and effectively. Ahonen smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Telushikin will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Telushikin throws a shot from downtown. Ahonen moves away and avoids it. Telushikin throws an off balance right hand
and Ahonen counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Telushikin misses with a takedown and Ahonen counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Ahonen tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Telushikin defends well and Ahonen ends up having to push Telushikin into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Ahonen uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Telushikin. Telushikin falls off balance throwing a combination
and Ahonen counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Ahonen has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ahonen scores with a jab. Telushikin acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Telushikin is rocked! Telushikin misses with a double jab
and Ahonen counters with a crisp right that sends Telushikin to the canvas! Ahonen follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!
