In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 11 wins and 5 losses; Hugo Boss! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 4 wins and 12 losses; Rui Rodrigo Germano! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Percy O'Donnell and Don Winkell.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Boss fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Germano sprawls well initially but Boss persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Boss (2) vs (0) Germano Germano is in trouble now - Boss has advanced to mount! Score +3 for passing guard: Boss (5) vs (0) Germano Boss controlling from mount. Boss avoids the attempt from Germano to control. Germano is trying desperately to improve position. Boss can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Germano is looking to escape. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Germano is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Germano is looking to improve his position but Boss isn't that keen on the idea.
That's one minute gone in the round. Germano is squirming around, avoiding Boss's attempts to control the action. Boss goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Germano is on top in guard.

Boss has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Germano being controlled here momentarily. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Germano trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Boss keeping moving, preventing Germano from controlling successfully. Germano stands and throws Boss's legs to the side, diving into side control. Score +3 for passing guard: Boss (5) vs (5) Germano Germano trying to control the position but Boss is working away. Germano wants to control for a moment but Boss uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. Germano is looking for a kimura here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Germano wants to take a breather but Boss is having none of it. Germano is looking to pass to full mount but he's left his head exposed in the process. Boss has locked up a guillotine and regained full guard. He's really cranking on it - this could be the end! Is it? Is it? No... YES! YES! He's tapped! I didn't think he was going to get it there for a minute but he did! Well done Boss! He waited for his chance and took it!
