PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Edward Grubbs (ranked 3917 p4p, 6212 weight class) and Clark Gorzecki (ranked 501 p4p, 705 weight class). The key to victory for Edward Grubbs has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Edward Grubbs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Clark Gorzecki!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gorzecki keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Grubbs uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Gorzecki.
A looping hook to the body misses from Gorzecki. Grubbs does a little dance to reset his feet.
Grubbs blocks a jab.
Grubbs connects with a good right hand that stumbles Gorzecki. Gorzecki circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Gorzecki feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Gorzecki is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gorzecki bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Grubbs slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Gorzecki is staying tight to Grubbs's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Gorzecki remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Let's hope that Gorzecki has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Grubbs looks to land a combination but Gorzecki avoids it well.

Gorzecki might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Gorzecki shoots in for a takedown but Grubbs shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Edward Grubbs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Clark Gorzecki.

Grubbs lets his hands go wild with a nice combination. Left! Right! Uppercut! Spinning backfist! Gorzecki goes down and covers up as Grubbs starts wailing on him! The ref watches the action closely before stepping in and putting a stop to the fight!
