PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Creighton (ranked 6898 p4p, 5476 weight class) and Sun Chang (ranked 289 p4p, 248 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kevin Creighton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sun Chang!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chang clinches up with Creighton and pushes him back against the cage.
Creighton is trying to drag Chang to the mat but Chang just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Chang breaks the clinch.
Creighton throws a leg kick which misses Chang's front leg but catches the back leg as Chang tries to avoid it.

Chang gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Chang has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Creighton is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Creighton gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Chang regains guard.

Chang kicks Creighton off and gets to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Chang blocks a head kick by Creighton.
Chang throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Creighton throws a series of punches but Chang moves out of range.
Some wild striking there from Creighton.

Chang misses with a takedown attempt - Creighton sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Creighton clinches.

Chang manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Creighton has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Chang tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Creighton trying to control but Chang is working from the bottom.
Chang trying to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Creighton throws an elbow that misses. Chang uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Creighton's guard. Nice move by Chang!

Creighton is looking for a triangle here but Chang uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Chang tries for a kimura but Creighton is defending well.
Creighton misses with an elbow from the bottom.
Chang slows the pace down.
Creighton is trying to improve his position.
A lull in the action here as Chang stalls from top position.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Chang is trying to get an arm triangle but Creighton is defending well.
Sloppy strikes there by Chang.
The referee asks Chang politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Chang prefers to stall for the moment though.
The strikes coming from Chang are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Creighton struggling a bit here.
Chang wants to control but Creighton is keeping him busy.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Chang slows the pace down.

Chang looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Chang wants to lay and pray for a moment but Creighton keeps working.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Chang throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Creighton gets a clinch.
Creighton jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Chang walks away with a smile on his face. Creighton gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Chang looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Chang throws a body kick despite being completely out of range

and Creighton counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Creighton.

Chang wriggles free and stands up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Sun Chang dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Creighton avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Chang takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Chang tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Creighton manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Creighton is looking for a counter combo.
Chang has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Creighton swinging wildly here.

Chang closes the distance and pushes Creighton back into the cage.
Creighton tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Creighton letting Chang take a breather here.
Creighton is looking to take this one to the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Creighton manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Creighton really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Chang breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kevin Creighton is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Chang fails with an attempt to clinch.
Creighton walks forward, straight into a front kick from Chang.
Creighton blocks a head kick by Chang.
Chang throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.

Chang instigates a clinch.
Creighton throws a head punch that misses.
Creighton gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Chang.

Chang breaks the clinch.
Chang misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Chang misses with a two punch combination.
Creighton throws a head kick that misses.

Chang shoots and misses

and Creighton holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Chang jumps guard but Creighton turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Kevin Creighton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sun Chang.
Creighton struggles to land a body shot inside as Chang controls his hands.
Creighton is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Creighton tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Chang pulls guard effortlessly.
Creighton stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Chang swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Creighton sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Chang's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Creighton tries to pass the half guard into mount. Chang knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Creighton is trying to control. Chang wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Chang preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Chang is trying to stand.

Creighton is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Chang has managed to free his arm - good work.
Creighton is just content to waste time from the top position. Chang takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Creighton throws a big right hand that misses.
Chang is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Chang seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Creighton is trying to get back to full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Creighton is looking to escape.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Sun Chang showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Creighton fakes the leg kick and cracks Chang in the body.
Creighton fails with the takedown
and Chang counters with a left to the body.
Chang fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Creighton.
Chang thumps Creighton with a low kick.
Chang lands with a nice body punch.

Chang manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Chang looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Chang gets control of Creighton's arms and successfully pulls guard. Chang will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Creighton stands and throws Chang's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Chang is doing well to control the position and prevent Creighton from advancing to side control.
Chang is trying to stand back up but Creighton is controlling him

Creighton seems to be looking for submissions.
Creighton stalling away here and it's allowed Chang to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Creighton is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Creighton trying to control but Chang is working from the bottom.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Chang is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

With the fighters up against the cage, Creighton throws an elbow but misses.

Creighton uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Chang.
Creighton is looking to counter punch.
Chang tries to clinch but Creighton is having none of it.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Chang is trying to pull guard but Creighton has him pressed against the cage.
Sun Chang is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Creighton ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Creighton no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Sun Chang.
I've got Chang winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
