Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between T. J. Romero (ranked 24751 p4p, 24804 weight class) and Javier Tapia (ranked 717 p4p, 743 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Javier Tapia enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, T. J. Romero! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Javier Tapia! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Albert Achterberg and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tapia looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Romero is fending him off so far but Tapia persists. Nope, Romero circles away and we're back to standing. Romero wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Tapia fails with a takedown attempt. Tapia leaves Romero with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Tapia closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Romero quickly recovers to half guard. Romero trying to control from the bottom.
Tapia keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tapia tries to pass the half guard into mount. Romero knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Romero trying to control here.
Romero is in trouble now - Tapia has advanced to mount!
That's one minute gone in the round. Romero wants to control but Tapia is having none of it. Tapia looking to finish with strikes here!
Romero defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Tapia. Tapia tries to control but Romero wriggling away. Tapia goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Romero is on top in guard.
Tapia throws his legs up looking for a submission but Romero uses it to pass to side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Romero trying to control the position but Tapia is working away. Tapia isn't going anywhere. Romero creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Tapia sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Romero wants to lay and pray for a moment but Tapia keeps working. Tapia struggling a bit here. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Tapia might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Romero haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tapia tries to improve position but can't. Tapia is trying to control Romero's posture but Romero avoids it. Tapia tries to bench press Romero off him but Romero keeps the position. Tapia felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Romero tries to stand but Tapia is controlling his head. Romero trying to control the position but Tapia is working away. Tapia is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Romero gets to mount! Tapia was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Tapia slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Tapia looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Romero pushes past his half guard into mount! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Tapia is working to get back to half guard.
Romero trying to control but he's not successful this time. Romero throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Tapia because Romero loaded up on that one. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Romero seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Tapia is holding on tight.
Romero can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Tapia is looking to escape. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that T. J. Romero will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Tapia throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Romero tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Tapia is in Romero's guard. Tapia drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Tapia jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Tapia has gone for a leg lock! Romero slips out almost immediately though and dives into Tapia's guard. Romero is looking to work some ground and pound but Tapia has wrist control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Romero trying to control the position from guard on top but Tapia is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Romero pushes down on Tapia's leg and manages to get into half guard. Romero is trying to control. Tapia wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Romero throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. T. J. Romero overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Tapia throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Romero not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Romero is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Tapia doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Romero. Tapia works his way to full guard. Good work. Tapia has his foot on Romero's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Romero works his way back into a safe position though. Romero wants to stand but Tapia is controlling his posture from full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tapia keeping moving, preventing Romero from controlling successfully.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Tapia scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Tapia not doing much here.
Romero wants to get back to full guard. Tapia is working for a kimura here but Romero manages to reverse the position and he's now in Tapia's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tapia has his foot on Romero's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Romero works his way back into a safe position though. Tapia wants to hit a sweep here but Romero passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Tapia there! Tapia wants to get back to his feet.
Tapia wants to control but Romero is having none of it. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Tapia wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Romero.

T. J. Romero dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round! Tapia blocks a head kick by Romero.
Romero sets himself, and Tapia steps forward looking for the clinch! Romero avoids it this time. Tapia gets a takedown into half guard. Romero is pressing down on Tapia's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Romero keeping moving, preventing Tapia from controlling successfully. Romero looking to sweep here. Romero wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land. Romero gets back to half guard. Tapia looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Romero trying to hold on to Tapia's head to control him but Tapia postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Romero is refusing to be controlled, as Tapia sits in half guard. Tapia is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Tapia is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Romero doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Tapia. Tapia uses his free foot to push down on Romero's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Romero. Javier Tapia has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Romero holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Tapia tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Tapia takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Tapia prevents Romero from getting the reversal. Tapia throwing strikes here but Romero is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

And that's the end of the fight! Javier Tapia comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Romero has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
