Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jack Frost (ranked 2516 p4p, 2586 weight class) and Hector Romero (ranked 283 p4p, 292 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Hector Romero enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jack Frost!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hector Romero!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Felipe Paraventi and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Romero bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
An elbow from Romero crashes against the mat.
Romero really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Frost. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Frost keeping his opponent close.
Romero wants to stand but Frost is controlling his arm.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Romero trying to control the action but Frost is working from the bottom.
You can see the frustration on Frost's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Romero is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Frost to keep the fight standing.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Romero escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Romero tries to keep at a distance but Frost has taken the fight into the clinch.
Frost changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Romero fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Frost closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Romero did well to prevent Frost getting side control.
Frost is taking a breather. Romero says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Frost is pressing down on Romero's thigh, looking to free his foot. Romero is holding on for now.

Romero wants to control but Frost postures up.
Romero is looking for a sweep.
The ground and pound from Frost seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Romero lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Frost circles away quickly and effectively.
Frost is trying hard to land a takedown here. Romero sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Frost changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Romero tries to avoid it but Frost manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Romero to the ground. Romero escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Romero looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Frost is fending him off so far but Romero persists. Nope, Frost circles away and we're back to standing.
Frost changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Frost misses with the combination.

Romero moves in looking to clinch but Frost pushes him off.

Romero shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Romero was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Frost sneaks out the side door and pushes Romero away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Jack Frost has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hector Romero.

Frost gets control of Romero's arms and successfully pulls guard. Frost will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Frost has his foot on Romero's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Romero works his way back into a safe position though.

Frost gets to his feet. Romero looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Frost throws a shot from downtown. Romero moves away and avoids it.

and Romero counters with a nice double leg into side control. Frost won't be happy with that.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Romero misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Romero postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Romero is looking to take a break and control but Frost is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Frost manages to work his way to half guard, despite Romero's best efforts.
Jack Frost overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Frost slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Frost's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Frost takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Frost frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Romero tries to lock up and control but Frost gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Frost looking to ground and pound but Romero is blocking nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Romero is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Frost is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Romero can do to turn this around?
