Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thomas Evans!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Seu Braga and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Evans feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Evans rushes Jones and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Evans lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Jones is trying to maintain the position but Evans is very close to passing his half guard.
Jones tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Evans has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Evans wants to control the pace but Jones is squirming around nicely.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Evans here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Jones lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Evans.
Evans is pressed up against the cage. Jones has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Evans down to the mat. Evans avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Jones fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
It looked like Evans wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Evans shoots in but Jones avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Evans wants to clinch up but Jones keeps it at a distance.
Jones shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Evans throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
No luck for Jones with that takedown attempt.
Jones just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromEvans.

Evans shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Evans showed some decent athleticism there.
Jones tries to kick Evans off in order to stand up. Evans Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Evans thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Evans is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Jones tries to bench press Evans off him but Evans keeps the position.

Evans has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Evans goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Jones turns into him and now he's in Evans's guard.

Evans doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Evans pulls Jones in close to prevent any damage.
Evans tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well Evans has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
