PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Adam Shalashaska (ranked 2431 p4p, 4405 weight class) and Darko Hamilton (ranked 326 p4p, 549 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Darko Hamilton!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Daniel Franklin and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shalashaska fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hamilton avoids it really well and circles away.

Shalashaska darts in and clinches Hamilton up against the cage.

Shalashaska has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Hamilton uses from the top position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hamilton got a little sloppy there for a moment and Shalashaska has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hamilton has managed to get both his arms back between Shalashaska's legs - danger averted.
Shalashaska definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Shalashaska working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hamilton doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hamilton manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Hamilton winds up and cracks Shalashaska with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Hamilton lands a nice short elbow.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hamilton has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Shalashaska jumps guard but Hamilton turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Shalashaska jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hamilton walks away with a smile on his face. Shalashaska gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Adam Shalashaska. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Hamilton counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Hamilton with a flurry of punches that miss.

Shalashaska looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Hamilton is defending well. Shalashaska quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Hamilton has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Shalashaska celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Adam Shalashaska!
A less than humble Adam Shalashaska misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
