Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shug Skinner (ranked 2160 p4p, 1798 weight class) and Maurice Tillet (ranked 299 p4p, 250 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Shug Skinner! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Maurice Tillet! The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Peter Branson and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. Tillet ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Tillet tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Skinner lands a nice shot to the body.
A big left from Skinner misses. Tillet displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Skinner throws out the jab. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Skinner lands with a nice body punch. Skinner looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Shug Skinner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Skinner misses with an uppercut. A looping hook to the body misses from Skinner. Tillet does a little dance to reset his feet. Tillet avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Tillet tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. A jab from Tillet misses. Skinner was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Shug Skinner is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Tillet with the counter takedown but Skinner avoids it easily. Tillet slips under a jab. Tillet tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Skinner was well out of range. Poor timing from Tillet. Skinner misses with a wild body shot. Tillet feints the counter takedown. Skinner lands with a nice body punch. Tillet misses the shot to the body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Skinner connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Skinner throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Skinner is trying to maintain the position but Tillet is very close to passing his half guard. Tillet prevents Skinner from improving his position. Tillet frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Tillet prevents Skinner from getting the reversal. Tillet looking to control and managing it successfully. Skinner is trying to escape the mount.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Tillet scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Skinner?

It looked like Skinner was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Tillet. Tillet takes one on the chin but seems OK.

And Tillet tries to counter it with a takedown but Skinner pushes his down on his head and steps out. Tillet misses with an uppercut. That's two minutes gone in the round. Tillet shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Tillet throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Skinner was covering up waiting for the punch and Tillet finishes the takedown easily into guard. Skinner is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tillet seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Skinner keeping full guard, as Tillet tries to pass.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tillet working some strikes from top position. Tillet makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Tillet postures up and lands a big shot to Skinner's brow. Tillet is working Skinner over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Skinner looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Tillet has picked Skinner up and slammed him! Skinner can't keep hold of the triangle and Tillet manages to pass to side control! Tillet landing strikes. Tillet in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Skinner looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Tillet turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!
