PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kidney Stone (ranked 1079 p4p, 796 weight class) and Sergey Objedkov (ranked 67 p4p, 46 weight class). Stone kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Pour Some Sugar On Me by Def Leppord. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kidney Stone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergey Objedkov!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Ren Mimura and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Objedkov uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Stone.
Objedkov throws out a counter right but Stone avoids it with no problem.
Stone definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Stone swings widly with a right hand

and Objedkov counters with a takedown into side control.
Objedkov postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Stone is trying to get back to half guard.

Objedkov thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Objedkov working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Stone is not content to let Objedkov control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stone parries the strikes from Objedkov easily there. Objedkov is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Stone to escape.
Stone tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Objedkov wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Objedkov thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Stone on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Stone is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Objedkov working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Stone trying to control but Objedkov flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!

Stone looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Stone is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

A bit of a pause in the action here. Objedkov controlling the positon.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Stone defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.
Objedkov cracks Stone with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Stone from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Objedkov wants to control but Stone is keeping him busy.
Objedkov is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Objedkov in particular looking to stall.
Objedkov is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Objedkov is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Stone is looking for a sweep. Objedkov is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Stone is refusing to be controlled, as Objedkov sits in half guard.

Stone tries to roll over but Objedkov keeps him under control.
Stone has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Objedkov is working away from the top position though.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Objedkov tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Stone manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
It looked like Stone was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Objedkov.
Objedkov misses with a hook
and Stone counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Objedkov misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Stone throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Objedkov throws a hook but Stone avoids it easily.
Stone fails with an attempt to clinch.

and Stone counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Sergey Objedkov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Objedkov throws out a counter right but Stone avoids it with no problem.
Objedkov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Stone tries to avoid it but Objedkov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Stone to the ground. Stone escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Nice straight punches there by Objedkov. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Objedkov.

Objedkov steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Stone. That one must have hurt.

It looked like Stone wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Objedkov decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Objedkov is looking to take a break and control but Stone is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Stone is wriggling around trying to escape.

Stone tries to lock up and control but Objedkov gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Objedkov prevents Stone from getting the reversal.

Stone wants to control but Objedkov is having none of it.
Objedkov tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Stone looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Objedkov is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
You can see the frustration on Stone's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

I would just about give that final round to Sergey Objedkov.
I've got Objedkov winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
