PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Landon Hurts (ranked 7017 p4p, 3950 weight class) and Vanilla Ice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hurts comes to the cage accompanied by What I Please. Vanilla Ice is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Landon Hurts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Vanilla Ice!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Peter Branson and Daniel Franklin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hurts goes for a double leg but Ice avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Ice continues to drive forward.

Ice breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hurts moves out of range of the body kick from Ice.
Hurts drops down looking for a counter takedown but Ice sprawls and moves away.
Hurts has been working on his balance at Cozad The Island, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Ice.
Ice scores with a push kick.

Ice feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Hurts keeping moving, preventing Ice from controlling successfully.
Hurts is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hurts looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Ice trying to control the position from guard on top but Hurts is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Ice must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Hurts is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Hurts manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Ice's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Ice misses with a low kick.
A counter left hand to the body from Hurts misses its target.
Hurts fails with the takedown.

Ice closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hurts to the mat! Hurts manages to get full guard.

Hurts pushes Ice off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Hurts gets caught flat footed, as Ice shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Ice looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Hurts pulls Ice in close to prevent any damage.
Ice stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hurts swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Ice controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hurts looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Ice is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Hurts has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Ice is looking to defend but Hurts has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Ice! Hurts pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Ice taps out and this one is all over!
