so David counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. David postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Black can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as David controls the pace. Black not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Black really doesn't want to stay on the ground with David. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. David slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. David has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Black is proving hard to escape from. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Black is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. David makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Black wriggles free and stands up. Black looks for a takedown but David sprawls well.
Black drives through with a takedown into guard. Black is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. David pulls Black in close to his closed guard and prevents Black from doing any damage or advancing position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
David is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Black rolls with it to try and escape but David cranks on the arm and Black is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Roger David!
