Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Forrest (ranked 3324 p4p, 3323 weight class) and Jorge Jones (ranked 429 p4p, 428 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Paulo Santos and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
A head kick from Jones lands but Forrest takes it in his stride.
Forrest pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Despite the aggression on Jones's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Jones fails with a takedown attempt.
Forrest scores with a jab.

It looks like Jorge Jones has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Forrest darts in and clinches Jones up against the cage.
Jones content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Jones drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Jones lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Jones closes the distance and clinches up with Forrest, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes Forrest against the cage but Forrest circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
As Jones tries to get set, Forrest tries to push him back and clinch up but Jones manages to avoid the attempt.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Forrest sprawls well. Forrest wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jones gets slowly back to his feet.

Forrest fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Jones unleashes a big counter combination but Forrest bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Forrest throws a right and a left that Jones avoids nicely.
Forrest leaves Jones with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Forrest is defended easily by Jones.
Jones on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Jones's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Forrest fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jones misses with an uppercut. Forrest saw that one coming.

That was a close round but I would say that Chuck Forrest will probably get the nod.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chuck Forrest. That's going to take a lot out of him.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jones is working an open guard so Forrest takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Forrest misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Forrest scores with a nice body kick.
Forrest slaps away a takedown attempt from Jones, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Jones gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Jones kicks Forrest off and gets to his feet.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

A countering left hand to the body from Jones misses.
Jones swats away the attempt to clinch by Forrest.

Jorge Jones seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Forrest dives in for a single leg takedown but Jones sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Jones jumps guard but Forrest stands there with Jones around his waist. Jones gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jorge Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jones utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Jones wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Forrest is now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Forrest misses with a head shot. Jones uses the momentum to regain guard.
Forrest in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Jones is striking but Forrest is not phased and passes to half guard.

Forrest performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Jorge Jones has got the better of the ground game so far.
Jones regains full guard. Nicely done.
Jones preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Forrest is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Jones trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Forrest tries to break free but Jones pushes him back against the cage.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jones fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Forrest avoids it really well and circles away.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Chuck Forrest.
I think Forrest has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
