PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mike Row (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and DJ Early (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Row comes to the cage accompanied by In the End - Linkin Park. Early has chosen "Taste of Ink" by The Used as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Row has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Early fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Row sprawls well initially but Early persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Early is controlling the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Let's hope that Early has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. I looks like Early might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Despite being in the dominant position, DJ Early just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Row misses with a takedown attempt and Early counters with a takedown into side control. Row is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Row tries to bench press Early off him but Early keeps the position. Early content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Early has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Row is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Early yanks on the arm and Row is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Early.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). DJ Early!
