Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Harris Carson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Frank Macri! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Felipe Paraventi and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Macri decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Carson is looking to get back to is feet but Macri passes into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Macri looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Carson can't do much from the bottom here. Carson is trying to get back to half guard. Macri decides to stand back up. Macri steps back and let's Carson get back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Macri misses with a double jab.
Carson avoids the head kick by Macri.
Carson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Macri as he avoids it easily. Despite the aggression on Macri's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
That's one minute gone in the round. Macri fails with the takedown. Carson moves into the clinch. Carson is trying to pull guard but Macri turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Macri wants a takedown.
Macri decides to pull guard. Carson is looking to stand up but Macri won't let him. Macri keeping full guard, as Carson tries to pass. Macri controlling the position. Carson wants to control from the top but Macri keeps moving. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Macri can do anything to dispel that myth. Macri is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Macri pushes a forearm under Carson's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Carson is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
