Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Don Barnes (ranked 1384 p4p, 2456 weight class) and Pierre Ragout Mendy (ranked 208 p4p, 327 weight class). Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Don Barnes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pierre Ragout Mendy! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Aafke Stam and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Decent striking displayed by Barnes there. Barnes throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Mendy stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Mendy tries to bum rush Barnes with a series of wild strikes but Barnes uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Mendy misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Barnes.
Barnes ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mendy moves away. Mendy clinches up against the cage. Barnes turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Barnes manages to end up in side control. Barnes postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Mendy parries the strikes from Barnes easily there. Barnes is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Mendy to escape.
Barnes wants to control but Mendy is keeping him busy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Barnes misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Barnes trying to control the action but Mendy is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Barnes postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendy avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Barnes. Barnes tries to advance to mount but can't. Mendy has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Mendy takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Barnes misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Barnes controls the position from side control. Mendy is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Barnes takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Barnes is fighting it off but Mendy persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Barnes's guard against the cage. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Barnes is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Barnes is trying to control the action in half guard but Mendy is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Barnes bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mendy's guard. Mendy wants to stand up but Barnes is controlling him. Barnes looking to sit in guard and control but Mendy gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Barnes trying to keep a closed guard but Mendy is proving a slippery customer.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mendy lands a couple of digs.

He's tossed Mendy clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Even with his hooks in, Barnes manages to miss with strikes from the back. Don Barnes overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Barnes wants to control but Mendy manages to buck him off and is now in Barnes's guard! A close second round but Pierre Ragout Mendy will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's time! Back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round! Barnes tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mendy swats him away and circles back towards the center. Nice uppercut there from Barnes. Barnes works over Mendy's head and body with a nice combination. Barnes connects with a jab. Barnes throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Mendy stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Barnes with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Mendy fails in his attempt to clinch. It looked like Barnes wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Barnes takes a body punch but keeps moving. Barnes cracks a nice hook into Mendy's ribs. Barnes changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Don Barnes is winning the standup battle so far. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Sloppy strikes from Barnes. Those never looked like landing. Mendy closes the distance and clinches up with Barnes, looking for a takedown. Mendy pushes Barnes against the cage but Barnes circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Mendy pushes Barnes up against the cage in a clinch. Barnes has picked Mendy up - he's going for a ride! Barnes dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Mendy scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Barnes manages to mount him!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Barnes dominating with strikes here. Barnes throwing strikes here but Mendy is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Mendy really wants to buck Barnes off and get back to his feet. Mendy takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Barnes's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
