Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Simon Hedegaard (ranked 1355 p4p, 4986 weight class) and Premysl Otakar Jr (ranked 198 p4p, 627 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hedegaard fails to land the takedown.
Hedegaard looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Otakar Jr darts in looking for a takedown but Hedegaard gets double underhooks and turns Otakar Jr into the cage.
Otakar Jr throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Hedegaard.
Otakar Jr throws a solid leg kick but Hedegaard takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Otakar Jr.

and Hedegaard counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Otakar Jr looks like he's trying to stand up.
Otakar Jr has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Hedegaard will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Hedegaard seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hedegaard looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Otakar Jr with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Hedegaard looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Hedegaard wants to free his trapped foot but Otakar Jr is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Hedegaard is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Otakar Jr is surviving well by controlling Hedegaard's body position as best he can.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Hedegaard cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Hedegaard is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Otakar Jr can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Otakar Jr seems to have recovered his senses.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hedegaard postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Otakar Jr in real trouble here! The ref calls for Otakar Jr to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
