Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Simon Hedegaard (ranked 1355 p4p, 4986 weight class) and Premysl Otakar Jr (ranked 198 p4p, 627 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 10 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Simon Hedegaard! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Premysl Otakar Jr! The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paul Aken and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hedegaard fails to land the takedown. Hedegaard looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Otakar Jr darts in looking for a takedown but Hedegaard gets double underhooks and turns Otakar Jr into the cage. Otakar Jr throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Hedegaard. Otakar Jr throws a solid leg kick but Hedegaard takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Otakar Jr. A low kick from Otakar Jr misses and Hedegaard counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Otakar Jr looks like he's trying to stand up.
Otakar Jr has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Hedegaard will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Hedegaard seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Hedegaard trying to control the pace. Otakar Jr wants to get back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hedegaard looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Otakar Jr with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Hedegaard looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hedegaard takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Hedegaard is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Hedegaard is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hedegaard wants to free his trapped foot but Otakar Jr is holding on for dear life with his legs. Hedegaard keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Hedegaard throwing shots but Otakar Jr is blocking nicely. Hedegaard is trying to work for a kimura but Otakar Jr is defending well.
Hedegaard is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Otakar Jr doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hedegaard. Hedegaard is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Otakar Jr is trying to stand up here but Hedegaard is controlling him well. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Hedegaard not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Hedegaard moves into full mount! Otakar Jr won't be happy about that! Hedegaard landing punches. Hedegaard is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Otakar Jr has managed to escape the submission attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hedegaard is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Otakar Jr is surviving well by controlling Hedegaard's body position as best he can. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Hedegaard cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Hedegaard lands a nice shot to the head.
Otakar Jr is rocked! Hedegaard trying to control but Otakar Jr is having none of it. Otakar Jr is still in real trouble! Can Hedegaard finish him? Hedegaard is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Otakar Jr can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Otakar Jr seems to have recovered his senses. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hedegaard postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Otakar Jr in real trouble here! The ref calls for Otakar Jr to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Simon Hedegaard!
