Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Winky Medina (ranked 3638 p4p, 5787 weight class) and Islam Akhmedov (ranked 393 p4p, 560 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Medina!
Medina bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Medina looks to score with a jab to the body but Akhmedov is just out of range.
Medina rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Akhmedov moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Medina stuffs the takedown attempt from Akhmedov. Akhmedov gets slowly back to his feet.

Medina has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Akhmedov throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Medina's waist but Medina gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Akhmedov off to one side.
No joy there for Medina, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Akhmedov's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Medina connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Akhmedov scrambles back to his feet.
Akhmedov closes the distance and clinches up with Medina, looking for a takedown. Akhmedov pushes Medina against the cage but Medina circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Akhmedov drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Medina manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Akhmedov has Medina in his guard.

Medina stands and steps away. Akhmedov gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
