PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Darren Till (ranked 4586 p4p, 2952 weight class) and Adio Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 400 weight class). Till comes to the cage accompanied by Sweet Caroline at UFC Liverpool. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Darren Till!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Adio Harris!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Winston Alpacca and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Till manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Harris on his heels. He'll look to pass Harris's guard now, I'm sure.
Till preventing the sweep.
Harris is trying to keep Till in close.
Till advances to half guard.
Till controlling the pace.

Till is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Harris sees it coming and defends easily.
Till perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Till trying to control the action but Harris is working from the bottom.
Harris wants to control but Till is keeping busy and won't allow it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Harris tries to roll over but Till keeps him under control.
Harris has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Till is working away from the top position though.
Till passes to side control.

Till goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Harris rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Till's guard! Nice work there by Harris!
Till is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Till is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Harris defends it well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Harris is refusing to be controlled, as Till sits in half guard.
Till perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Harris wants to get back to his feet.
Nice strikes from Till there.
Till performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Harris is staying active underneath Till, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Till is pressing down on Harris's thigh, looking to free his foot. Harris is holding on for now.
Harris is looking for a sweep. Till is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Till looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Harris with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Till wants to advance to full mount but Harris doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Harris has momentary wrist control but Till slips an elbow through the middle.
Harris is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Harris is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Till sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Till has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Till scoring with punches to the head and body.

Harris is rocked!
Till arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Harris's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Darren Till!
In his post fight interview, Darren Till started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
Adio Harris spoke after the fight, saying 'I gave my best, and I'm happy about it!'.
