Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Real Dragon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hidetoshi Nakata!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yukihiro Shimada and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nakata shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Dragon looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Nakata is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Dragon is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Dragon has escaped and now he's on top!

Nakata seems keen to control Dragon's posture.
Nakata bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dragon's guard.
Nakata stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dragon swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Dragon tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Nakata is looking to work some ground and pound but Dragon has wrist control.
Nakata controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Nakata tries to clinch up but Dragon circles away and keeps his distance.

Nakata changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Dragon looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Dragon is trying to control Nakata's posture but Nakata avoids it.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Nakata tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Dragon taking punishment in the form of punches.
Nakata is looking to take a break and control but Dragon is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Nakata happy to just control the position for now.
Let's hope that Nakata has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Dragon takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Nakata remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Dragon's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Nakata seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Nakata is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Dragon defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Nakata.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Nakata is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Nakata!
