PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fedor Petrov (ranked 4812 p4p, 23171 weight class) and John Smith (ranked 528 p4p, 698 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Petrov might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to They want too see me fall. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Smith!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Roger Salmon and Micheangelo Fripello.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith tries to clinch there but Petrov circles away.
Petrov ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Smith moves away.

Smith closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Smith is stalling here.
Petrov lands a body shot in the clinch.

Petrov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
The crowd cheers as Petrov lands an impressive looking overhand right. Smith doesn't seem phased though.

It looks like John Smith has been cut.
Petrov stalks Smith and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Smith's face. Smith staggers backwards, shaken.
Fedor Petrov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smith has a takedown stuffed.
Petrov throwing a counter right hand but Smith manages to avoid it.
Petrov swings for the body but Smith moves out of range.
Petrov with a jab.
Petrov scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Smith.

Smith throws a right and a left that both miss.
Petrov punishes Smith's body with a nice straight punch.
Smith looks winded!

Petrov lands a big shot that drops Smith! Can he finish him?

Smith is rocked!

Petrov drops back looking for a leg! Smith is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Smith manages to kick Petrov off! Petrov jumps back into Smith's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Petrov is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Petrov wants to stand but Smith is controlling his posture from full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Petrov drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Petrov jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Smith has a closed guard, preventing Petrov from standing up.

Petrov drops back looking for a leg! Smith is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Smith manages to kick Petrov off! Petrov jumps back into Smith's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Smith is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Petrov presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Petrov manages to break the clinch.

Petrov drops Smith with a nice combination! Petrov dives into Smith's guard, looking to finish!
Smith is still in real trouble! Can Petrov finish him?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Smith looking to control.

Petrov stands and steps away. Smith gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Petrov is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Smith flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Smith is out cold! Petrov holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Fedor Petrov!
Fedor Petrov opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
John Smith was interviewed post fight and said 'he did a great job'.
