Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Nicholas Chandler (ranked 24753 p4p, 4893 weight class) and Miyamoto Musashi (ranked 528 p4p, 407 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nicholas Chandler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Miyamoto Musashi!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, John Roberts and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chandler shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Chandler looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Musashi pulls Chandler in close to prevent any damage.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Chandler enables Musashi to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Chandler manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Musashi must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Chandler working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Musashi doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Musashi manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Chandler has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Musashi is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Chandler.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Musashi wants to stand but Chandler has his arm trapped.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Musashi throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Chandler was covering up waiting for the punch and Musashi finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.

Miyamoto Musashi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well Musashi has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
