Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Max Strasburg (ranked 3737 p4p, 2478 weight class) and Carlton Yonge (ranked 463 p4p, 322 weight class). Strasburg's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Seven Nation Army. Carlton Yonge is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Max Strasburg! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Carlton Yonge! The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Santiago Holmes and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yonge lands a two punch combo.
Strasburg closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Yonge quickly recovers to half guard. Yonge looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. The fighters are battling for position here. Yonge manages to regain full guard. Nice work. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Yonge can do anything to dispel that myth. Strasburg won't allow Yonge to sweep him here. Strasburg controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Yonge looking for a sweep. Not yet Yonge, not yet. Yonge really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Strasburg. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Strasburg engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Strasburg seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Yonge for as long as he can get away with. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Strasburg gets in close and instigates a clinch. Strasburg is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Yonge can't fight it off and eventually Strasburg manages to take the fight to the floor. Yonge looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Yonge pushes Strasburg off and scrambles back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Yonge swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Strasburg. Yonge fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Strasburg on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Yonge scores with a jab. Yonge connects with a single shot there. Strasburg shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Yonge napping and manages to drive through into side control! Yonge is trying to get back to half guard. You can see the frustration on Yonge's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. A lull in the action here as Strasburg stalls from top position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Yonge tries to get back to half guard but can't. Strasburg staying calm. Strasburg tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Strasburg has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Yonge is looking to regain half guard here but Strasburg keeps moving and retains side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Yonge struggling a bit here. Yonge tries to improve position but can't. You can see the frustration on Yonge's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Strasburg taking a breather here. Yonge struggling a bit here. Yonge seems a little lost for a moment, as Strasburg dominates the positioning. Strasburg has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Carlton Yonge dominated that round. That's time! Strasburg's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Strasburg uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Yonge.

Strasburg decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Yonge manages to escape and get back to his feet! Strasburg feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Yonge working a defensive guard here.
Yonge wants to sweep but no luck. Strasburg controlling from the top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Strasburg is fighting to break Yonge's control of his arms but Yonge is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Yonge tries to land a sweep but no joy. Strasburg slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Yonge blocks a leg kick. Strasburg tries to move into range but Yonge moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Yonge lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Yonge has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Strasburg misses with a takedown attempt - Yonge sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Yonge throws a counter combo. Carlton Yonge seems to be getting the better of the standup. Strasburg takes a jab right on the kisser.
Strasburg bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Strasburg drops down looking for a counter takedown but Yonge sprawls and moves away. Yonge lands a really nice looking cross but Strasburg seems unphased.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Yonge tests Strasburg's chin there with a solid looking shot. Yonge tries to score with a low kick but Strasburg moves his leg out of the way. Strasburg gets the takedown into side control. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Yonge tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Strasburg wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Yonge is trying to control Strasburg's posture but Strasburg avoids it. Yonge pushes Strasburg away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Strasburg gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Strasburg thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Strasburg has knee on belly and moves into mount. Strasburg controlling from mount. Strasburg has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Yonge wants to control but Strasburg is having none of it. Strasburg jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Yonge manages to avoid the submission attempt. Max Strasburg overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Strasburg wants to lay and pray for a moment but Yonge keeps working. Strasburg controlling the position. Strasburg has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Yonge is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Strasburg yanks on the arm and Yonge is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Strasburg.
