Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chop Douglas (ranked 2542 p4p, 3216 weight class) and Hector Romero (ranked 292 p4p, 367 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chop Douglas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hector Romero! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Alexandre Firmino and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Douglas tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Romero was well out of range. Poor timing from Douglas. Romero fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Douglas manages to avoid it. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Douglas is defended easily by Romero. Douglas tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Romero paws at him with a jab and circles away. Romero misses with a head kick.
Douglas closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Douglas lands in his opponent's guard. Romero is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Douglas sitting in guard here, content to control.
That's one minute gone in the round. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Romero holds on and takes a little breather. Douglas trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Douglas looking to sit in guard and control but Romero gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Romero must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Romero stays in close to Douglas's body and controls the position. Douglas keeping moving, preventing Romero from controlling successfully. Douglas looking to control but Romero passes into half guard.
Douglas keeps control of the position for the meantime.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Douglas gets full guard. Romero trying to control the position from guard on top but Douglas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Romero wants to pass the guard but Douglas is keeping the position. Douglas controls Romero momentarily but Romero frees himself. Douglas working a defensive guard but Romero manages to pass into side control anyway.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Romero controls the position. Douglas wants to control but Romero postures up. Douglas is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Romero asserts his dominance and retains side control. Romero is trying to get an arm triangle but Douglas is defending well. Douglas tries to get back to half guard but can't. Douglas is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Douglas tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Romero manages to move to mount!
Romero goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Douglas is on top in guard.
Romero is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Douglas presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. Douglas gets underhooks to prevent Romero's takedown attempt.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Douglas tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Romero smiles and moves away.
Douglas drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Romero tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Hector Romero will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Douglas tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Romero paws at him with a jab and circles away. As Douglas backs off Romero throws a huge counter combo but Douglas manages to avoid it all. Douglas shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Douglas fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Douglas scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Romero manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Douglas keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Romero breaks from the clinch.
Douglas just misses with a punch to the body.
Douglas has a takedown stuffed. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chop Douglas. That's going to take a lot out of him. Romero shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Douglas as he jumps to the side. Douglas shoots in for a double leg but Romero sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Douglas moves to clinch but Romero breaks away and Romero counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Douglas!
That's one minute gone in the round. Douglas is trying to control Romero's posture but Romero avoids it. Romero trying to control the position but Douglas is working away. Douglas pushes Romero away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Romero gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Romero taking a break here but Douglas is having none of it and regains half guard. Douglas looking for submissions off his back. Douglas has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Romero is working away from the top position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Romero is trying to control. Douglas wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Douglas looking for submissions off his back. Douglas manages to get to full guard.
Romero stays in close to Douglas's body and controls the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Romero gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Romero has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Romero shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Douglas as he avoids it easily. Douglas misses with a body kick. Romero throws a counter combo. Douglas shoots in looking for a takedown. Romero tries to sprawl out of it but Douglas keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Romero manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Douglas gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Romero counters with a two punch combo. Douglas shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Romero defends it nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Douglas stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Douglas wants it to stay on the feet. Douglas throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Romero's waist but Romero gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Douglas off to one side. Douglas tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Romero swivels and escapes. Romero throws a head kick that misses. Romero has Douglas up against the cage in a clinch.
Romero escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Douglas closes the distance and pushes Romero back into the cage. Douglas jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Romero walks away with a smile on his face. Douglas gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Romero closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Douglas did well to prevent Romero getting side control. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Romero not doing much here.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Douglas fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Romero to the ground. Douglas is now in Romero's guard. Romero keeping moving, preventing Douglas from controlling successfully. Romero throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Romero bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Douglas's guard. Romero is fighting to break Douglas's control of his arms but Douglas is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Douglas throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
That's one minute gone in the round. Douglas looking for a triangle here. Romero is fighting it but it looks tight! Douglas pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Romero is tapping out - this one is all over!
