Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Paul Webber (ranked 24848 p4p, 24938 weight class) and Bakary Mensah (ranked 297 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Paul Webber! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bakary Mensah! The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Josh West and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Webber shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mensah's guard. Mensah trying to control the position here. Webber trying to control the position from guard on top but Mensah is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mensah pulls Webber in to control the position. Mensah keeping moving, preventing Webber from controlling successfully. Mensah really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Webber. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mensah is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Mensah keeping moving, preventing Webber from controlling successfully. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mensah not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Webber fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Mensah throws a big counter head kick but Webber avoids it with no problem. Webber throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Mensah counters with a three punch combo that has Webber backing up. Webber nods at Mensah to acknowledge the strikes. Mensah stuffs the takedown. Mensah blocks a head kick by Webber.
Webber will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Webber. That's going to take a lot out of him. Webber throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Webber throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

Mensah avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Mensah is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Webber is breathing heavily. Mensah checks the leg kick. As Webber backs off Mensah throws a huge counter combo but Webber manages to avoid it all. Webber misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Mensah feints the counter takedown. Webber throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Webber misses with a looping right. Webber bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Mensah tries to buck Webber off but Webber is having none of it. Mensah struggling a bit here. Mensah is holding Webber down, trying to stall.
That's three minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Mensah's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Webber is looking to take a break and control but Mensah is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Mensah tries to improve position but can't. Mensah parries the strikes from Webber easily there. Webber is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Mensah to escape.

Webber is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Mensah is surviving well by controlling Webber's body position as best he can. Webber tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mensah swivels and escapes. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Webber dives in and grabs Mensah's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mensah pushes down on Webber's head and hops out. A punch combination from Webber misses.

And that's the end of the fight! Bakary Mensah comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Mensah has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
