PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jay Lane (ranked 4702 p4p, 3848 weight class) and Leonardo Pesce (ranked 163 p4p, 0 weight class). Lane comes into the arena with "The Batdance" by Prince blaring out of the sound system. Leonardo Pesce looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jay Lane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leonardo Pesce!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Robert Twigg and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pesce misses with a takedown attempt - Lane sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Lane throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Pesce was covering up waiting for the punch and Lane finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Pesce looking for a guillotine here but Lane defends easily.
Lane looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lane trying to control but Pesce is working from the bottom.

Lane is fighting to break Pesce's control of his arms but Pesce is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Lane wanted to stand there but Pesce had control of the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Lane misses with a series of wild punches.

The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
A bit of stalling here from Lane.
Pesce is looking to control Lane's arms but Lane gets an underhook and turns him. Now Pesce has his back to the cage.
Lane tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Pesce avoids it.

Pesce stalling in the clinch.
Lane on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Lane takes a knee to the side of the body.
Lane is breathing heavily.
Lane fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Lane manages to break the clinch.
Lane shoots for a takedown but Pesce saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
An inside leg kick lands from Pesce.
Pesce scores with a kick to the body.
Pesce delivers a nice body kick.
Pesce tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Lane defends well and Pesce ends up having to push Lane into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Pesce shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lane as he avoids it easily.
Jay Lane has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Leonardo Pesce.
Lane throws a body kick that misses.

Pesce fakes the leg kick and cracks Lane in the body.
A low kick lands for Pesce.
Pesce scores with a spinning back kick!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Pesce shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Lane is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Pesce.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Pesce works on Lane's body with a couple of short punches.
Pesce slows down the pace here.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Pesce connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
A nice combination there by Pesce.

It looks like Jay Lane has been cut.
Pesce tries to clinch but Lane moves out of range.
Lane really is a fat lump.
Lane shoots in looking for a takedown but Pesce manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Lane's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lane shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Pesce manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Pesce has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Lane wants to pass the guard but Pesce is keeping the position.
Lane postures up in Pesce's guard and throws a big left but Pesce blocks it.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Pesce fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Lane, pushing him back against the cage.

Pesce unloads a knee to the mid-section.

Lane postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Pesce utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pesce is pulling down on Lane's head to control his posture.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Leonardo Pesce showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Lane's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Lane has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Pesce clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Lane's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Pesce wants to control his opponent's hands but Lane gets his hands free.

Lane throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage.
Lane tries to get the hooks in deep but Pesce pushed the leg off.
Lane misses with punches from the back.
Leonardo Pesce is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Pesce looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Pesce just trying to survive but Lane is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jay Lane showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Pesce has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
