Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Smashy Cartwright (ranked 4699 p4p, 24756 weight class) and Chris Young (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chris Young told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Young has managed to clinch.
Cartwright is trying to trip Young. He has hold of a leg but Young is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Cartwright persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cartwright working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Young's head.
Cartwright trying to control but Young is working from the bottom.
Young has momentary wrist control but Cartwright slips an elbow through the middle.
Cartwright landing some decent shots from guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cartwright stands and throws Young's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Cartwright cracks Young with a big right hand but Young just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cartwright is trying to get an arm triangle but Young is defending well.
Young is looking to regain half guard here but Cartwright keeps moving and retains side control.

Cartwright works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Cartwright creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Cartwright is working Young over with some ground and pound from side control.
Young is rocked!

Young is still in real trouble! Can Cartwright finish him?
Cartwright lands a few punches from side control.
Cartwright cracks Young with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Cartwright immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Young is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Cartwright!
