PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Renaldo Ticevic (ranked 4703 p4p, 4601 weight class) and Atif Abood (ranked 0 p4p, 482 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Renaldo Ticevic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Atif Abood!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Daniel Bishop and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Abood closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Abood is trying to break free.
Ticevic tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Ticevic with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Ticevic misses with a knee to the head.
Abood has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Ticevic is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Abood pulls guard effortlessly.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Abood manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ticevic manages to get himself to full guard.

Abood seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Abood postures up in Ticevic's guard and throws a big left but Ticevic blocks it.
Abood stands and throws Ticevic's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Abood is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Let's hope that Abood has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Abood tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Abood postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Abood staying calm.
Abood in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Abood is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Ticevic's shoulder. That is not cool.
Abood has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Abood has knee on belly and moves into mount.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Abood cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Abood pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Abood's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Abood connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ticevic is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Abood content just to control the position here.
Ticevic is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Abood looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Abood postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Ticevic looks a forlorn figure.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Abood thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Atif Abood dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Abood connects with a right hand. Ticevic shakes it off.

Abood pushes Ticevic up against the cage in a clinch.

Abood gets control of Ticevic's arms and successfully pulls guard. Abood will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Ticevic knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Abood on the ground.
Abood seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Ticevic has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Abood to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Ticevic is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Abood pulls down on the head and he's put Ticevic to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Atif Abood!
A relieved looking Atif Abood thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
