PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bruno Salvacion (ranked 23726 p4p, 24454 weight class) and Poison Ivy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 1, fighting out of New York, Bruno Salvacion!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Poison Ivy!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Lou da Vinci and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Ivy stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ivy wants it to stay on the feet.

Salvacion closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Ivy is not content to let Salvacion control the position.

Ivy bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Salvacion fails with the takedown.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Ivy stuffs the takedown attempt from Salvacion. Salvacion gets slowly back to his feet.
Ivy throws a big counter head kick but Salvacion avoids it with no problem.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bruno Salvacion. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Salvacion shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ivy sprawls well. Ivy wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Salvacion gets slowly back to his feet.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Salvacion gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Ivy to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Ivy working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Ivy's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
More stalling from Ivy.

Ivy gets to his feet. Salvacion looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Ivy feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Ivy wants to stand but Salvacion is controlling his posture from full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Ivy is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Poison Ivy dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Salvacion fails to land the takedown.
Salvacion sets himself, and Ivy steps forward looking for the clinch! Salvacion avoids it this time.

Ivy shoots in and bounces Salvacion off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Salvacion is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Ivy wants to stand but Salvacion has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Salvacion wants to sweep but no luck.
Ivy sitting in guard here, content to control.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Salvacion shoots in for a takedown but Ivy shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Salvacion enables Ivy to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Salvacion manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Salvacion is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Ivy wants to stand but Salvacion has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Ivy stands up and waves to Salvacion to follow him.

Salvacion shoots for a double leg takedown but Ivy sprawls well. He's pushed Salvacion's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Ivy let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bruno Salvacion. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ivy changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Salvacion tries to avoid it but Ivy manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Salvacion to the ground. Salvacion escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Salvacion throws a quick counter kick to the body but Ivy avoids it.

and Ivy counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Ivy is looking to land body kicks.
Salvacion thinks about countering with a head kick.

Ivy shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Well, if Ivy is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Ivy is continuing to stall.

Poison Ivy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Salvacion will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Ivy tries a quick counter leg kick but Salvacion is wise to it.

Ivy has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Ivy wants to get up but he can't break Salvacion's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Ivy postures up.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The adventures of Ivy the control monster continue. Boring.

Ivy stands up and beckons Salvacion to join him on the feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Salvacion goes for a double leg but Ivy avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Ivy continues to drive forward.

Ivy escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Poison Ivy is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Ivy shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Salvacion as he jumps to the side.
Bruno Salvacion has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Ivy uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Salvacion.
Ivy follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.

And that's the end of the fight!
Poison Ivy comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ivy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
