Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Matteo Sanchez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Frankie McLaughlin! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Atkins and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McLaughlin uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Sanchez. Sanchez tried to score with a low kick but McLaughlin checks it. Sanchez looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Sanchez dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Sanchez throws a lazy uppercut
and McLaughlin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Sanchez throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. A combination from McLaughlin does no damage. Sanchez throws a leg kick and McLaughlin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Sanchez avoids a punch combination nicely.
Sanchez tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but McLaughlin was well out of range. Poor timing from Sanchez. Sanchez walks into a stiff left hand from McLaughlin. Sanchez throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
McLaughlin on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Sanchez throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Sanchez throws a jab but it's blocked by McLaughlin. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Sanchez ducks down and throws a hook to the body but McLaughlin moves away. McLaughlin swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Sanchez moves into range and connects with a jab. McLaughlin blocks a head kick by Sanchez.
Sanchez misses with a body shot
and McLaughlin counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sanchez misses with a wild body shot. Sanchez misses with an uppercut
and Sanchez takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. A punch lands to the side of Sanchez 's head but he takes it in his stride. McLaughlin lands with a nice combination. Sanchez backs away looking to recover. Sanchez moves out of range of the strikes. A big right from Sanchez misses. McLaughlin throws out a counter right but Sanchez avoids it with no problem. Matteo Sanchez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A cross from Sanchez lands. Sanchez takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Sanchez dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Sanchez swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Sanchez swings for the body but McLaughlin moves out of range.
This has been an exciting period of action! Sanchez throws a sloppy body shot
and McLaughlin connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. McLaughlin lands the left hand. Sanchez ducks down and throws a hook to the body but McLaughlin moves away. A little jabbing left from McLaughlin on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Sanchez tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but McLaughlin was well out of range. Poor timing from Sanchez. Sanchez throws a body shot but no joy. Sanchez ducks down and throws a hook to the body but McLaughlin moves away. Sanchez misses with a body shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McLaughlin checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. McLaughlin might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Sanchez pushing out the jab but it's not landing. McLaughlin lands with an overhand left. McLaughlin throws a nice looking combination but Sanchez bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. McLaughlin smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. A slow jab from Sanchez misses its intended target. A little jabbing left from McLaughlin on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. McLaughlin takes one to the chin there. Sanchez is looking to wear down McLaughlin with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. McLaughlin connects with a looping right hand.
Sanchez is rocked! Both fighters step back and shake their arms out. McLaughlin engages and cracks Sanchez with a massive lead left hook - Sanchez tumbles to the floor, out cold! What a shot! McLaughlin is delighted - all that hard work in training paid off!
