Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lee Meredith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wanderlei Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lee Meredith could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Wanderlei Silva's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lee Meredith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wanderlei Silva!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Chris Downing and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Silva or perhaps it was just good defense by Meredith which made him look bad.
Meredith looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Meredith throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Silva's waist but Silva gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Meredith off to one side.

Silva takes the fight into the clinch.

Silva breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Silva is looking to clinch but Meredith is avoiding it.
Silva misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

and Meredith counters with a takedown into side control.
Silva tries to improve position but can't.
Silva is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Silva throws a couple of elbows from the bottom.
Silva is looking for a sweep.
Silva tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Meredith tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Silva really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Meredith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Meredith counters with a takedown into side control.
Silva is trying to control Meredith's posture but Meredith avoids it.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Silva is looking for a sweep.
Silva can't do much from the bottom here.
Meredith tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Silva sneaks back into half guard.
Meredith blocks the strikes from Silva.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Silva shoots for a double leg takedown but Meredith sprawls well. He's pushed Silva's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Lee Meredith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wanderlei Silva.
Silva is looking to clinch.
Silva lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Silva looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Wanderlei Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Meredith bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Meredith is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Silva has escaped the position, nice work there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Meredith avoids the strikes from the bottom by Silva.

Silva is trying to buck Meredith off.

Meredith thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Meredith tries to advance to mount but can't.
Silva tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Meredith wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Silva is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Meredith avoids the strikes from the bottom by Silva.
Silva is looking for a sweep.

Silva tries to strike but it doesn't land.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Silva tries to clinch up.

Silva is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Silva checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

and Meredith counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Meredith is on the wrong end of a couple of strikes there.

Meredith thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Silva wants to get back to his feet but Meredith is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lee Meredith dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Meredith is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Silva lands a knee to the body.

Lee Meredith is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Silva swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Meredith counters with a shoot takedown. Silva fights it but they end up in guard.

Meredith sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Silva's guard.
Silva is trying to get back to full guard.

Meredith looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silva wants to get back to his feet.
Silva gets full guard.
Meredith wants to pass the guard but Silva is keeping the position.
Silva is trying to keep Meredith in close.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Meredith drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Meredith jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Meredith stands and throws Silva's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Silva is trying to get back to half guard.
Meredith prevents Silva from escaping the position.

Meredith has hold of Silva's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Silva seems comfortable defending it but Meredith has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Silva is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Silva is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Meredith couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Lee Meredith!
