Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ronny Smith (ranked 3124 p4p, 3398 weight class) and Kane Jones (ranked 452 p4p, 485 weight class). Ronny Smith has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ronny Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Edson Gomes and Paulo Santos.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith instigates a clinch.

Jones pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Smith shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Jones counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Smith shoots in for a takedown but Jones shows good takedown defense.
Smith throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jones's waist but Jones gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Smith off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ronny Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Smith is defended easily by Jones.
Smith dives in for a single leg takedown but Jones sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smith swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Ronny Smith will probably get the nod.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jones shoots in for a takedown but Smith shows good takedown defense.
Smith takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Smith uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Jones lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Smith tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jones sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Smith somewhat.

and Jones counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Jones.
Smith has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Jones decides to pull guard.

Jones working for a triangle but Smith defends it easily.
Jones bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Smith's guard.

Smith is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Smith thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Smith not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Jones must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Jones has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Smith is proving hard to escape from.
