PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Morris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Blackjack Mulligan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mulligan has chosen Superstition as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Jack Morris has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jack Morris seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Blackjack Mulligan!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Both fighters circling a little - Morris finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Mulligan throws the left hand but Morris avoids the punch easily.
Mulligan will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Mulligan misses with a wild combination.
Morris fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Mulligan shoots for a double leg takedown but Morris sprawls well. He's pushed Mulligan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Morris throws a combination. Mulligan tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Mulligan takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Jack Morris seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Morris shoots for a takedown but Mulligan saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Morris is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Mulligan can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Morris sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mulligan's guard.

Mulligan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Morris wants to pass to mount but Mulligan is defending the position.

Morris is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Morris is breathing heavily.
Mulligan is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Morris's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Morris's back!

Mulligan thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Morris wants to control from the top but Mulligan keeps moving.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mulligan misses with a low kick.
Morris connects with a crisp jab.

Morris defending well as Mulligan loads up on a big left hand.

Morris takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Mulligan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Morris's guard.

Morris throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mulligan's waist but Mulligan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Morris off to one side.

Mulligan tries to work over Morris's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Mulligan wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Morris wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Mulligan has him pressed against the cage.

Morris scores with a one two! Mulligan had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Well Morris has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
