Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jon Selnes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wayne Stanley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stanley is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Tomorrow. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stanley throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Stanley tries to clinch but Selnes is having none of it. Stanley tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Nice sprawl there from Selnes as Stanley shoots in. Stanley throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Stanley tries to clinch but Selnes moves out of range. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Stanley fails in his attempt to clinch. Stanley shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. A clash of legs there as Stanley blocks the low kick. A head kick misses from Selnes. Selnes closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Selnes landing a few strikes. Selnes trying to control the position but Stanley is working away. Selnes prevents Stanley from escaping the position. Selnes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stanley on the ground. Selnes looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Stanley wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Selnes trying to control the position but Stanley is working away. Selnes decides to take the fight back to the feet. Stanley misses with a few strikes there.
Stanley gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily so Selnes counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Jon Selnes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wayne Stanley. Stanley looks gassed! Stanley working for a triangle but Selnes defends it easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Selnes wants to control from the top but Stanley keeps moving. Stanley can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Selnes controls the pace. Selnes postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Selnes looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Selnes wants to control from the top but Stanley keeps moving. Selnes tries to free his leg and advance position but Stanley is retaining full guard. Selnes has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Selnes is working hard here to advance position. Selnes sitting in guard here, content to control. Stanley looking for a guillotine here but Selnes defends easily.

Selnes is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Stanley misses with a takedown and Selnes counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Selnes. Selnes throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Stanley works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Stanley is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Stanley manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Selnes manages to get himself to full guard.
Stanley is breathing heavily. Stanley being controlled here momentarily. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Jon Selnes just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Selnes lands with a thumping leg kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Selnes thuds his shin into the meat of Stanley's side. Some wild striking there from Selnes.

Stanley takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Selnes decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Stanley is not content to let Selnes control the position. Stanley taking some punishment here, with Selnes in his half guard. Jon Selnes overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Stanley is looking for a sweep. Selnes is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Stanley throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Selnes manages to pass to side control. Selnes wants to lay and pray for a moment but Stanley keeps working.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Selnes thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Selnes is trying to get an arm triangle but Stanley is defending well. Stanley wants to get back to his feet. Stanley struggling a bit here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Selnes shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Selnes prevents Stanley from getting back to his feet. Selnes trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Selnes trying to control the position from guard on top but Stanley is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Selnes scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Stanley wants to stand but Selnes is controlling the position. Stanley trying to keep a closed guard but Selnes is proving a slippery customer.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Selnes scores with a leg kick.
Selnes bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Stanley tries to bench press Selnes off him but Selnes keeps the position. Selnes cracks Stanley with an elbow. That is naaassty. Stanley tries to buck Selnes off but Selnes is having none of it. Selnes looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stanley wants to get back to his feet. Stanley is looking for a sweep. Check out the look on Selnes's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Selnes moves into the clinch. Selnes manages to pull guard.
Selnes striking off his back but it's not causing Stanley any problems.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Selnes keeping moving, preventing Stanley from controlling successfully. Stanley preventing the sweep. Selnes lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Stanley! Selnes is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Stanley can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Stanley has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever. Stanley trying to control the position but Selnes manages to sink in the hooks.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Stanley holding both Selnes 's hands and preventing any damage. Selnes wants to control but Stanley is keeping busy. Jon Selnes is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Stanley has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke. You can see the frustration on Stanley's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that's the end of the fight! Jon Selnes showed his dominance in that final round. Well Selnes has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
