PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Gy Firey (ranked 4779 p4p, 24748 weight class) and Trike Quicky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quicky has chosen Tupac - Fortune and Fame as his entrance music. Trike Quicky will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gy Firey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Trike Quicky!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Anthony Taglia and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Firey closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Quicky manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Quicky throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Quicky working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Firey doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Firey manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Firey got a little sloppy there for a moment and Quicky has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Firey has managed to get both his arms back between Quicky's legs - danger averted.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Quicky is looking for a triangle but Firey pushes his legs off easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Firey thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Quicky is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Firey defends well.

Firey is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Quicky wants to stand and escape but Firey is having none of it.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Firey lands a couple of digs.
Firey looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Firey chips away with some ground and pound.
Firey is stalling in the full guard.
Firey passes into half guard.
Firey is nestled in close to Quicky, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Firey looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Quicky with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Firey is taking a breather. Quicky says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Quicky is looking to improve his position.
Firey working over Quicky with some ground and pound. Quicky looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Quicky looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Firey is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Firey is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Quicky!
Firey lands a big shot there that rocks Quicky but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Quicky really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Firey. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Quicky has left one of his arms exposed and Firey doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Quicky screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Gy Firey!
Trike Quicky was interviewed post fight and said 'Aw man, not again. I hate losing. But I will come back stronger! '.
