Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Koos Van Asch (ranked 1902 p4p, 4621 weight class) and Curtis Rome (ranked 197 p4p, 397 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Koos Van Asch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Curtis Rome!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Fedor Mirinova and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rome steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Van Asch.
Koos Van Asch seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Van Asch throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Rome on the side of the head.
Rome is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Van Asch ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Rome moves away.

Rome is trying to get an arm triangle but Van Asch is defending well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Van Asch regains half guard there - taking advantage of Rome's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Rome is stalling here. Van Asch is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Rome seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Van Asch has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Van Asch remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Rome goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Van Asch has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Rome but great work by Van Asch.

Rome must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
