Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Thiago Neves (ranked 2232 p4p, 1542 weight class) and Gerardo Pacheco (ranked 237 p4p, 167 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Thiago Neves! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 26 - 15 - 3, fighting out of Helsinki, Gerardo Pacheco! The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Daniel Blasius and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pacheco closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Neves is struggling to control the position. Pacheco tries a body shot but Neves blocks it.
Pacheco misses with the head strike.
Pacheco lands a hook to the side of the head. Pacheco struggles to land a body shot inside as Neves controls his hands.
Pacheco tries to work over Neves's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Neves tries to pull guard but Pacheco forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Pacheco lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Neves tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Pacheco smiles and moves away.
Pacheco misses with a body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pacheco connects with the punch. Neves will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Thiago Neves. That's going to take a lot out of him. Pacheco drives through and clinches with Neves against the cage.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Pacheco creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Pacheco doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pacheco pushes Neves back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Pacheco throws a punch but it's blocked by Neves. Neves tries to pull guard but Pacheco won't allow it.
Pacheco lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Neves jumps guard but Pacheco turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Pacheco scores with a hook to the body. Pacheco tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Neves prevents a body shot from Pacheco. A short body shot lands from Pacheco as the two fighters clinch.
Pacheco fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Neves tries to score a body lock takedown but Pacheco shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Neves has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Pacheco regains guard immediately. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Neves seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Neves forces his way into half guard. Neves definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pacheco is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Neves pulls his head out easily. Pacheco trying to hold on to Neves's head to control him but Neves postures up.
Pacheco wants to get back to full guard. Neves is trying to work for a kimura but Pacheco is defending well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Pacheco looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Neves trying to mount his opponent but Pacheco defends it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pacheco moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Pacheco looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Pacheco keeping moving, preventing Neves from controlling successfully. Pacheco has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Neves can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Neves drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Neves jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Pacheco trying to keep a closed guard but Neves is proving a slippery customer.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Neves controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Pacheco keeping moving, preventing Neves from controlling successfully. Neves sitting in guard, not really doing much. Pacheco looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Neves has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Pacheco to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Neves is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Pacheco pulls down on the head and he's put Neves to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Gerardo Pacheco! After winning the bout, Gerardo Pacheco thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
