Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Don Barnes (ranked 1072 p4p, 1506 weight class) and Alex Jones (ranked 167 p4p, 233 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Don Barnes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alex Jones! The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Radbod Blank and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones on the wrong end of a nice jab. Don Barnes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Barnes slaps away a takedown attempt from Jones, before circling back to the center of the mat. Jones shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Barnes as he jumps to the side. Jones fails in his attempt to clinch. Jones shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Barnes defends it nicely. Don Barnes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex Jones. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jones ducks right into an uppercut from Barnes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Barnes counters with a nice uppercut. Jones throws a jab when Barnes was well out of range. Jones shoots in for a takedown but Barnes shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. As Jones looks to move away, Barnes throws a big counter combo but Jones just gets out of the way. Barnes connects with a body shot. Barnes swinging wildly here.
Barnes avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Jones takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Jones tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Barnes digs a good body shot into Jones's ribs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barnes connects with the punch. Jones avoids the body shot from Barnes.
Jones moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Jones tries to clinch and Barnes counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. This has been an exciting period of action! Jones wants to clinch but Barnes slips to the side and Barnes counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Jones shoots in but no luck this time. Barnes paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Barnes throws a leg kick but Jones sees it coming and checks it nicely. Barnes scores with a jab. Jones acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Good shot there by Barnes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Jones is defended easily by Barnes. Good work by Jones as he checks the leg kick. Jones moves in looking to clinch but Barnes pushes him off. Decent striking displayed by Barnes there. Jones misses with a body shot.
Barnes's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Barnes duly obliges. Barnes uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Barnes scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Barnes connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones tries to close the distance and clinch but Barnes swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Jones slips a jab and a cross from Barnes.
Despite the aggression on Jones's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. A slapping leg kick lands for Barnes.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Barnes misses with a lunging right hand
and Jones counters with a single leg into guard. Barnes didn't expect that. Barnes bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jones's guard. Barnes is stalling in the full guard. Barnes wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving. Barnes is pushing down on Jones's leg trying to pass to half guard. Jones is fighting to maintain full guard but Barnes has managed to sneak the leg through. Barnes not landing any meaningful shots this time. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Don Barnes dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Barnes takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Barnes misses with a low kick.
Barnes tries for a takedown but Jones sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Jones tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. A nice leg kick from Barnes, right into the meat of the thigh.
Jones wants to clinch. Barnes went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. No luck for Jones with that takedown attempt. Barnes lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barnes scores with a hook to the body. Jones takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Don Barnes is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Barnes lands a head shot. Barnes catches Jones with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Barnes circles away from the clinch attempt.
A low kick lands for Barnes.
Barnes will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Barnes throws a jab but it's blocked by Jones. No luck for Jones with that takedown attempt. Barnes listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones tries to clinch there but Barnes circles away.
Barnes throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Jones stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Jones misses with a takedown attempt and Barnes connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Don Barnes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex Jones. Barnes dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Jones. That did some damage! Barnes moves away from the strike by Jones. This has been an exciting period of action! Barnes scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Don Barnes is winning the standup battle so far. Jones shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Barnes as he jumps to the side. Barnes moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barnes connects with a jab. A slow jab from Barnes misses its intended target. Jones shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Barnes counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Jones shoots for a double leg takedown but Barnes sprawls well. He's pushed Jones's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up but Barnes swats him away and circles back towards the center. That kick from Barnes tenderised Jones's leg. Jones is trying to keep his angry face on. Jones fails in his attempt to clinch. Jones uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Barnes.
Jones is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Jones looking to score a takedown here. Barnes is defending well but Jones drives through and ends up in Barnes's guard. Barnes controls Jones momentarily but Jones frees himself. Jones lands a couple of digs. Barnes looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Barnes lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Jones has momentary wrist control but Barnes slips an elbow through the middle. Jones preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Barnes trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Barnes slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Barnes trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Don Barnes dominated that second round. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round! Nice cross by Barnes. Barnes throws a front kick aimed at Jones's knee but Jones avoids it well. Barnes bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Barnes connects with a nice looking jab.
Jones tries for a takedown but Barnes circles away easily letting Barnes counter with a right hand. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jones shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Barnes pinned against the cage. Barnes gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Jones closes this distance looking for a takedown but Barnes circles away. Barnes is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jones can do to turn this around? Barnes stuns Jones with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Barnes lands with a kick to the ribs.
Barnes throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. It looks like Barnes has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him. Barnes takes a swing at Jones's ribcage but misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones shoots in but no luck this time. Barnes defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jones. Barnes with a hook. Jones misses with a takedown attempt letting Barnes counter with a right hand. Jones takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Barnes circles away from the clinch attempt.
Barnes lands with a good body shot. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Barnes misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Alex Jones has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Barnes scores with a body shot.
Barnes lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Barnes stuffs the takedown. Barnes was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A momentary lapse in concentration from Jones enables Barnes to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Jones manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Barnes trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth. Jones looking to hit a scissor sweep but Barnes is one step ahead there. Barnes is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Barnes trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Don Barnes overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Our spies down at at Kalashnikov ELITE MMA Gym inform us that Jones has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Barnes passes into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Barnes stalling away here and it's allowed Jones to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Barnes trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Barnes throwing strikes but missing. Barnes stands up over Jones, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Barnes throws a big right hand that misses. Barnes controlling from the top position. Barnes throwing strikes from guard but Jones blocks nicely.
And that's the end of the fight! Don Barnes showed his dominance in that final round. Well Barnes has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Don Barnes! Don Barnes decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
