The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Daniel Franklin and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Markelic throws an overhand right that lands on Holmes's shoulder, as Holmes tries to avoid the shot.
Markelic misses with a hook
and Holmes counters with a takedown into side control.
Holmes tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Markelic knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Holmes on the ground.
Holmes is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Markelic knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Holmes is looking to take a break and control but Markelic is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Holmes has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Markelic is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Holmes yanks on the arm and Markelic is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Holmes.
