The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sasaki throws the left hand but Spanner avoids the punch easily.
Sasaki has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Brooklyn Mixed Martial Arts in the buildup to the fight.
Sasaki throws a jab but it's blocked by Spanner.
Spanner moves out of range of the strikes.
Sasaki cracks Spanner with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Spanner drops his hands momentarily and Sasaki takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Spanner's coach down at Torcida MMA was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Spanner's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sasaki tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Spanner's elbow.
Spanner pushes Sasaki back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
The referee is keeping an eye on Spanner - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Sasaki tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Spanner avoids it.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Sasaki just misses with a elbow thrown towards Spanner's brow.

Spanner's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Sasaki tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Spanner manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
A left and a right from Sasaki both land. Nice combination.

Spanner was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Sasaki 's jab looks to have found its range, popping Spanner under the eye.

Bleeding Spanner's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

Spanner throws a lazy right hand but Sasaki sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Spanner takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Bleeding Spanner's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
