Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joao Silvera! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 29 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gennady Mikhasevich! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Andrew Berry and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silvera misses with a hook. Mikhasevich ducks under a wild hook from Silvera. Mikhasevich only half commits to the counter leg kick. Silvera connects with a looping right hand.
It looks like Gennady Mikhasevich has been cut. The fighters circling - Silvera throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Silvera fails to land with a series of punches.
Silvera looks to throw the jab but Mikhasevich is out of range. Mikhasevich was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind. Mikhasevich misses with a jab, cross combination.

Mikhasevich appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick. Silvera swings widly with a right hand
letting Mikhasevich counter with a right hand. Mikhasevich moves out of range as Silvera strikes. Silvera throws a sloppy head kick and Mikhasevich counters with a straight right hand. Silvera lands with an overhand left. Joao Silvera seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. This has been an exciting period of action! Mikhasevich ducks under a wild hook from Silvera. Silvera throws a lazy head kick and Mikhasevich counters with a nice uppercut. Mikhasevich throws a big shot that misses. Mikhasevich connects with a solid leg kick. Silvera misses with a wild combination.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mikhasevich lets loose with a powerful body kick. Silvera will feel that in the morning. Silvera tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mikhasevich was well out of range. Poor timing from Silvera. Mikhasevich keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Silvera misses with an uppercut. Mikhasevich saw that one coming. Silvera throws a sloppy head kick and Mikhasevich moves out of range easily. Mikhasevich swings away with a leg kick that misses. Silvera pushes Mikhasevich away with a front kick. Mikhasevich slips under a jab from Silvera. Silvera tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Nice defenses there by Mikhasevich. Silvera lands a really nice looking cross but Mikhasevich seems unphased.
Mikhasevich lands a jab to the nose. Silvera misses with a jab to the body
and Mikhasevich counters with a low kick, right behind Silvera 's knee. Silvera misses with a looping left. Mikhasevich was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind. Silvera listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. A head kick by Silvera misses and Mikhasevich counters with a flying knee. Nice. Mikhasevich staying out of range there. Silvera throws a body shot but no joy. A countering left hand to the body from Mikhasevich misses. Mikhasevich connects with a leg kick. Silvera throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Mikhasevich sizes up Silvera with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Mikhasevich throws a good cross that connects.
Silvera is rocked! Mikhasevich lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Silvera up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Mikhasevich from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Silvera's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
