PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Stephane Ouellet (ranked 4788 p4p, 4943 weight class) and John Doe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Stephane Ouellet!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Doe!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Doe tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ouellet paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ouellet changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Doe.
Ouellet fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Doe moves into range and clinches up with Ouellet.
Doe taking a breather.
A right handed body shot lands from Ouellet.
Ouellet jumps guard but Doe stands there with Ouellet around his waist. Ouellet gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Doe tries to pull guard but Ouellet holds him up against the cage and eventually Doe drops back down to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Doe loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Doe really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ouellet. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ouellet thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Doe is looking to advance position but Ouellet has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Doe is looking to improve his position but Ouellet isn't that keen on the idea.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

As Ouellet backs off Doe throws a huge counter combo but Ouellet manages to avoid it all.

Doe is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Doe is fighting to break Ouellet's control of his arms but Ouellet is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Ouellet wants to sweep but no luck.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Ouellet forces Doe back against the cage and clinches.
Ouellet jumps guard but Doe stands there with Ouellet around his waist. Ouellet gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Doe is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Ouellet gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Ouellet gets control of Doe's arms and successfully pulls guard. Ouellet will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Ouellet has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Doe has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Ouellet throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Ouellet working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Doe doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Doe manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Doe wants to control from the top but Ouellet keeps moving.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Well Ouellet has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
